Simulation and multi-objective optimization of an open-pit mine truck-shovel system by the cross-entropy method

Abstract

We propose a novel framework for the simulation and multi-objective optimization of an open pitmine truck-shovel system considering the influence of the equipment Reliability, Availability and Maintainability (RAM) characteristics on the system productive capacity. The framework is used for allocating trucks by route according to their operating performances in an open-pit mine, so as to maximize the overall potential of production of the fleet and minimize the difference between the material arriving to the discharge points and the production request, in order to achieve the production goals. We implement the framework by the modern Cross-Entropy Method (CEM). We make an application on a real scenario of an open-pit mine. Copyright © (2012) by IAPSAM & ESRA.
